One to one tuition must be the best way a child can be taught, as the topics, level and pace can be chosen to benefit their individual needs.
It can be useful for those who home-educate, particularly if your child is motivated to learn. If they are motivated to do their own studies and complete homework this can be done with just a few hours per week.
One to one is also great for children attending school but want to reach a higher grade, or students who are about to take exams and are looking for some help.
- It can be done face to face at your home and/or online using a virtual classroom
Rather than set lesson times I communicate with my students via Whatsapp, text or email and provide work to be done in their own time. They can ask me questions and I will help with topics they don’t understand using short video chats and/or classroom sessions.
This works better with students who are motivated and want to achieve but it can also encourage self-study and improve the motivation of students who are less excited to study.
- I run classes for 5 to 10 students, which is a less customised way of teaching but can work out cheaper for those who are home-educating. Contact me to put your name down and then I will inform you of any classes I have coming up
- I run the classes on demand, when I have enough children I run a course on a particular topic or series of topics required by the participants.
For parents who need help understanding the curriculum we can do some
- Q&A sessions
- or I can do some more presentation style lessons that can help with certain topics you don’t understand.
- We can do some sessions on teaching techniques if you are educating your child yourself.
I teach the National Curriculum of the major exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, Pearson’s) if the aim is to take GCSEs or iGCSE’s.
If you home-educate and you just want your child to receive a more general education, there are plenty of fascinating topics that can replace some of the more boring topics taught in schools.
For me it is a travesty that they do not teach more about space and cosmology so that would be one topic I would recommend, but we can design/choose the areas of Science and Maths that suit you.
- The more lessons you have the cheaper they will be on average, this includes 1-to-1 tuition, classes, guiding and any combination you choose.
- You can also pay up front for a package of 10 or 20 lessons, or pay for me to teach a certain chapter.
